An Urban Eco Escape in the Heart of Condesa
A guesthouse born from nearly fifty years of family life. Six rooms, one shared intention. Feel at home in Condesa.
Welcome
Welcome to Casa JuliAna, an intimate guesthouse born from nearly fifty years of family life in one of Mexico City's most beloved neighbourhoods.
What was once the home of the Margain Garciadiego family, a house filled with books, music, art and the aroma of homemade almond candy, is now a place where travellers from around the world can feel that same warmth.
Siblings Analuz and Jorge Margain invite you to stay in their childhood home, lovingly reimagined for conscious travellers who value authenticity, beauty and connection.
Our Story
For nearly five decades, this house on Antonio Sola street in Condesa was home to Julio César Margain, a physicist, and Ana María Garciadiego, a philosopher. Together they raised their children Analuz and Jorge in a world of curiosity, creativity and deep love for Mexico City.
The house was always full: full of books, full of pets, full of classical music, and every Christmas, full of the sweet scent of the family's traditional almond candy that Ana María prepared in the kitchen.
When Julio César and Ana María passed away in 2021, Analuz and Jorge chose to honor their parents' legacy by sharing it. Casa JuliAna, named after Julio César and Ana María, opened in 2023 as a guesthouse where every room carries the family's story forward.
Today, four granddaughters, Alexia, Camila, Sofía and Ana, lend their names to the newest rooms, ensuring that the next generation is woven into the fabric of this home.
Our rooms
Six Private Rooms, One Shared Intention: Feel at Home
Six private rooms across two floors, each named after a member of the Margain family. In 2025, interior designer Georgina Rojo collaborated with the family to reimagine the spaces using handcrafted Mexican ceramics, natural fibers, organic textures, and art that tells a local story.
Every room includes high-quality bedding, acoustic-insulated windows for restful sleep, and the personal touches of a home that has been loved for generations.
Baldío
Baldío. Mexico City's First Michelin Green Star Restaurant. Right Downstairs.
On the ground floor of Casa JuliAna, you'll find Baldío, a farm-to-table, zero-waste restaurant part of the Arca Tierra family. Every ingredient is seasonal, traceable, fair-trade and sourced from small-scale Mexican farmers and indigenous communities, many from the ancient chinampas of Xochimilco.
In 2025, Baldío was awarded the Michelin Green Star, recognizing its pioneering commitment to sustainable gastronomy. There isn't even a garbage bin in the kitchen.
For Casa JuliAna Guests 10% discount at Baldío included with every stay. Complimentary teas and local coffee from the Baldío ecosystem in the shared kitchen. Exclusive Arca Tierra experiences, including guided visits to regenerative farms in the chinampas of Xochimilco.
Sustainability
Rooted in Responsibility
Casa JuliAna was built to tread lightly. Solar panels power the house. A rainwater harvesting system reduces consumption. Filtered water runs throughout. The same values that earned Baldío its Michelin Green Star live upstairs too.
