Our Story

A house is just a house until it is filled with a life worth remembering.

For nearly five decades, Antonio Sola 26 in Condesa was not a guesthouse. It was a home.

The home of Julio César Margain, a physicist, and Ana María Garciadiego, a philosopher. Two people who built a life together in one of Mexico City's most beloved neighbourhoods, and raised their children Analuz and Jorge in a world of curiosity, creativity, and deep love for this city.

The house was always full. Full of books stacked on every surface. Full of pets. Full of classical music drifting through the rooms. And every Christmas, full of the sweet, warm scent of homemade almond candy that Ana María prepared in the kitchen, a tradition the whole family looked forward to all year.

It was not a perfect house. It was something better. It was a living house, shaped by the people inside it.

A legacy worth sharing

When Julio César and Ana María passed away in 2021, Analuz and Jorge faced a choice. They could let the house go, or they could find a way to keep its spirit alive.

They chose to share it.

Casa JuliAna, named after Julio César and Ana María, opened in 2023 as an intimate guesthouse, a place where conscious travellers from around the world could step inside a home that had been loved for generations and feel that warmth for themselves.

Not everything changed. The purple tiles on the exterior are the same ones that have always been there, part of the house since it was first a family home. And on the second floor, yellow flowers now bloom outside the windows, Ana María's favourite colour, kept alive in the place she loved most.

Every detail was considered. Every room carries a name. Six rooms across two floors, each named after a member of the Margain family, ensuring that the people who filled this house with life remain woven into its fabric.

The next generation

In 2025, interior designer Georgina Rojo collaborated with the family to reimagine the spaces: handcrafted Mexican ceramics, natural fibers, organic textures, and art that tells a local story. Four granddaughters, Alexia, Camila, Sofía and Ana, lent their names to the newest rooms, ensuring that the next generation is woven into the fabric of this home.

The story of Casa JuliAna is still being written.
